ORLANDO - Senior high jumper Ann-Louise Larsen, the captain of the UCF women's track and field team, will compete in the Florida Fast Times Open on Thursday as she aims to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

A two-time NCAA Regional qualifier in the outdoor event, Larsen leaped to a school record 1.75 meters (5-feet, 8.75 inches) in the indoor high jump at the Gator Invitational on Feb. 6. The mark was just short of the 1.78m provisional mark. The automatic qualifying standard is set at 1.84m.

"We want to give Ann every opportunity to meet the NCAA qualifying mark," said Golden Knights' head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "She's been jumping very well, and we're hoping for a good competition."

The high jump event begins at 1:30 p.m.

The rest of the Knights are scheduled to open the outdoor season on March 5 when the team hosts the UCF Invitational at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
