ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's basketball team will make their last road trip of the regular season when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. to take on Belmont and Lipscomb. The Golden Knights (17-8, 15-3 Atlantic Sun) will play Belmont (15-10, 10-8 A-Sun) on Wednesday, March 2 at 9 p.m. and Lipscomb (13-12, 10-8 A-Sun) on Friday, March 4 at 5 p.m.
Junior Celeste Hudson tops UCF in points with 11.4 per game, while senior Ali Roberts is also in double digits with 11.0 points per game. Junior Shelby Weber paces the Golden Knights in rebounds with 6.5 boards per outing. Sophomore Lashaunda Slade leads the Black and Gold in assists with 4.24 per game, while Roberts tops the team in blocks with 2.4 per game.
UCF currently tops the Atlantic Sun with a 15-3 (.833) mark in conference play. In the A-Sun statistics, the Golden Knights rank first in scoring defense (56.0 per game), blocked shots (6.20 per game), field goal percentage defense (35.6%), rebounding margin (+4.8), defensive rebounds (27.88 per game) and scoring margin (+5.3), while they are second in field goal percentage (40.8%) and third in three-point field goal percentage defense (29.9%) and assists (13.92 per game).
Individually, Hudson ranks 17th in scoring, while Roberts is 18th, sophomore Francine Houston is 24th with 9.7 points per game and senior Takira Allen is 28th with 8.8 points per game. Slade is fourth in assists among A-Sun players and Hudson is ninth with 2.96 per game. Roberts is also seventh in the conference in field goal percentage with 48.7%, while Allen is eighth with 48.1%. Hudson ranks third among A-Sun players in steals with 2.38 per game. Ranked second in the blocked shots department is Roberts, while Weber is fourth (2.32 per game) and Allen is 13th (0.75 per game). Hudson (1.91 per game) and Houston (1.76 per game) rank ninth and 10th in three-point field goals made.
Nationally, UCF is ranked seventh in blocked shots per game (6.3), 13th in field goal percentage defense (35.2), 25th in scoring defense (55.4 per game), 39th in rebound margin (5.3) and 50th in won-lost percentage (70.8).
Last time out, the Golden Knights were defeated by Troy, 71-50. Allen led the Knights with 17 points, while also scoring her 1,000th career point. Houston was second on the team in points with 10, while Roberts led the team in blocks with three. Allen also led the Black and Gold in rebounds with 11.
Hollie Davis tops Belmont with 15.2 points per game, while Brandi Miller has 14.2 and Jenny Conkle has 12.5. Miller leads the Bruins in rebounds with 10.2 per contest, while Tonisha Jones has 2.6 assists per game. Davis also paces the team in steals (1.76 per game), while Brooke Sunday has 0.88 blocks per game.
Belmont is currently tied for fourth in the A-Sun standings with a .556 winning percentage. In the A-Sun statistics, the Bruins rank first in scoring offense (67.6 per game) and three-point field goals made (8.60 per game), while placing second in scoring margin (+0.7). Belmont is third in three-point field goal percentage (34.0%) and defensive rebounds (25.92 per game), while coming in fourth in field goal percentage (39.6%).
Individually, Davis is third among A-Sun players in scoring, while Miller is eighth, Conkle is 13th and Sunday is 29th with 8.4. Sunday places sixth in field goal percentage, while Miller is 11th. Davis paces the conference in three-point field goals made, while Conkle is second.
Last time out, Belmont defeated Campbell, 67-56, in Buies Creek, N.C. The Bruins were led by Miller who had 24 points followed by Davis with 19 and Conkle with 13. Miller also paced Belmont in rebounds with 14. Jones and Kiki Radford topped the Bruins in assists with four each, while Miller had four steals.
This will be the eighth and final time that UCF and Belmont meet on the basketball court as Atlantic Sun rivals with the Golden Knights leading the series 5-2. UCF and Belmont last played on December 2, 2004 at UCF Arena in Orlando with the Golden Knights defeating the Bruins, 77-42.
Courtney Boynton leads Lipscomb with 14.2 points per game, while Katie Beth Pate paces the Bisons with 8.9 rebounds per outing. Boynton also tops the team in assists (3.24 per game) and steals (3.04 per game), while Pate is averaging 3.16 blocks per game.
Lipscomb is currently tied for fourth in the A-Sun standings with a .556 winning percentage. In the A-Sun statistics, the Bisons rank first in three-point field goal percentage (35.1%), three-point field goal percentage defense (28.3%) and assists (15.4 per game), while placing second in defensive rebounds (27.80 per game) and three-point field goals made (6.60 per game). Lipscomb is third in rebounding margin (+1.7) and blocked shots (4.20 per game) while coming in fourth for scoring offense (64.2 per game), scoring margin (-0.2), field goal percentage defense (37.6%) and steals (9.08 per game).
Individually, Boynton leads the A-Sun in steals, while placing second in free throw percentage (87.1%), fifth in three-point field goals made (2.12 per game), sixth in assists, seventh in scoring and 15th in field goal percentage (40.9). Pate tops the league in blocked shots, while coming in fourth in defensive rebounds (6.04 per game), fifth in rebounding, sixth in offensive rebounds (2.84 per game) and 27th in scoring (9.0 per game).
Last time out, Lipscomb was defeated by Gardner-Webb, 70-64. Kaleigh Gossman led the Bisons' charge with 13 points followed closely by Boynton with 12. Gossman also led the team in rebounds with 11. Catie Woods paced Lipscomb with three assists, while Pate had two blocks.
This will be the sixth and final time that UCF and Lipscomb meet on the basketball court as Atlantic Sun rivals with the Bisons leading the series 0-5. UCF and Lipscomb last played on December 4, 2004 at UCF Arena in Orlando with the Bisons defeating the Knights, 67-60.
