MACON, Ga. - UCF senior shortstop Stephanie Best was selected Atlantic Sun Player of the Week earlier this afternoon by the league office.
Best batted .409 with nine RBI's and three home runs to go along with an amazing .909 slugging percentage. She also scored seven runs for the week on a .500 on-base percentage.
The South Carolina native started the week with four RBI's in the opening game of a doubleheader against Florida A&M (02/22). In the nightcap, Best smashed her 50th career home run.
Best kept the momentum going at the Golden Panther Adidas Invitational last weekend in Miami. She opened the tournament with a 2-for-4 effort in the opener of the tournament against Florida A&M (02/25) again, smacking another home run and two runs scored. She concluded the evening against No. 20 FIU ripping another homer and picking up two more RBI's.
The league honor is the seventh of Best's career. She is the third Golden Knight to receive an A-Sun weekly award this season. Crystle Krafft (Feb. 21) and Lindsay Enders (Feb. 7) have won A-Sun Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
UCF returns to the diamond with two mid-week doubleheaders at the UCF Softball Complex. The Golden Knights hook up with St. Bonaventure tomorrow afternoon before matching up with No. 8/9 Michigan on Wednesday. Admission is free for all games at the UCF Softball Complex. Both doubleheaders are slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
