ORLANDO - The UCF men's soccer team faces the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer on Fri., Feb. 25 at the UCF Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free.
This will be the Golden Knights' third match against MLS teams this season. Earlier this month, UCF lost to both the Columbus Crew, 3-1, and the Chicago Fire, 4-1. Friday marks the first time that an MLS team has played against the Knights on the UCF Campus.
In the previous two games, the Golden Knights got goals from juniors Billy Judino and Jon Imran, while junior goalkeeper Ryan McIntosh made a combined 15 saves in the two outings.
The Wizards lost to the DC United, 3-2, in the 2004 MLS Cup Championship. Kansas City is currently 3-1-1 in preseason play after shutting out USF, 3-0, in Tampa on Tuesday night.
The match is part of the Soccer Alumni, Family and Friends Weekend scheduled for Feb. 25-27. The event includes a post-game social at Wackadoo's in the UCF Student Union as well as both men's and women's alumni games beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
"We are looking forward to seeing all the alums and friends of soccer and kicking off the weekend against the MLS Cup Runner-Up Kansas City Wizards," said UCF head coach and 2004 Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year Bob Winch.
The Golden Knights have won three consecutive Atlantic Sun Tournament titles and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2004.
