ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Josh Peppers scored 22 points and Kingsley Edwards added 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead Central Florida to a 70-65 win over Georgia State on Saturday night.
The Golden Knights (18-8, 11-7 Atlantic Sun Conference) pulled to within one game of first-place Gardner-Webb in the league standings with two games left. The two teams play Thursday in Boiling Springs, N.C.
Leading 62-60 with 1:07 left, UCF put the game away with a 7-0 run. The Golden Knights out-rebounded Georgia State, 45-26. Marcus Johnson had 12 points and 11 rebounds for UCF.
Marcus Brown led the Panthers (13-13, 10-8) with 19 points.
UCF missed its first seven shots from the floor, turned the ball over five times and trailed 11-0 with 12:24 left in the first half. The Golden Knights then reeled off a 23-5 run over the next seven minutes and went into the half tied at 31.
