Golf is, compared to sports like football and basketball, different when it comes to the schedule. We do not have just one season per year, instead we have two. We play tournaments from September to the end of October and then we start playing again in the beginning of February with the season ending in May.

Our spring season has just started! During the break the team has been working very hard. We have practiced with each other at Stoneybrook as well as alone on our home courses. We all came back from the holidays excited to play in the tournaments.

Unfortunately, I did not start the season the way I wanted to. At the end of the second week of school I found out I have mono. Therefore I have not been able to practice and could not play in our first tournament. It is always hard to have to sit out a tournament, but it is even harder when it is your home tournament. I had no choice, and instead I cheered the girls on from the sideline.

The team practiced both Saturday and Sunday, getting prepared for the tournament. On Sunday night we had a banquet at the Hilton where all the other teams stayed during the tournament. The food, from Bubbalou's, was good and the Valentine's Day cake we had for dessert was highly appreciated by everyone.

On Monday our team struggled a little bit. They seemed caught by the tournament nerves that always show up at the first tournament for the season. There is also some extra pressure to perform well at the home course. Lauren was low on our team with 76 and we were in ninth place.

On Tuesday the weather was beautiful and the team played better. Holly improved by eight strokes from the previous day and shot 75, along with Lauren. Ashley had a great round on her way when she was even par after 16 holes. Unfortunately, she struggled on the 17th hole and ended up shooting a 77. The team ended up in sixth place.

I would also like to mention that our freshman Brittany had her first appearance in a college tournament and we were very excited for her.

Our first tournament of the season is now out of the way and we have five more tournaments this season to look forward to. We play our next tournament in Miami on February 21-22.an>
