JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jesse Kimbrough scored 18 points, including a free throw with 3.5 seconds remaining in overtime, to lift Jacksonville to an 83-82 victory over UCF in an Atlantic Sun conference game on Saturday.
Jacksonville could have put the game out of reach in overtime, but the Dolphins hit only four of 11 free throw attempts, including one-of-two by Kimbrough in the final seconds. A 35-foot shot at the buzzer by UCF's Joshua Peppers hit the side of the rim and bounced away.
Jacksonville (14-10, 10-7 Atlantic Sun) held a 69-60 lead with about four minutes remaining in the second half of the seesaw contest, but UCF (16-8, 9-7) responded with a 10-1 run to knot the game at 70.
Jacksonville's Brad Larson scored on a reverse layup to break the tie with six seconds remaining in regulation, but UCF's Justin Rose scored a layup in the final second to force overtime.
Kimbrough and David Lee finished with 18 points, leading five Jacksonville players in double figures.
UCF's Anthony Williams scored a team season-high 31 points along with 10 rebounds.
