LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Due to inclement weather in normally sunny Las Vegas, day one of the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic has been cancelled.
"This is disappointing for our team because of the competition (No. 5/7 LSU and No. 8/11 Michigan) we were going to face on opening day," head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie said. "We were coming off a strong practice yesterday, and felt like we had a chance to make some noise out here on day one."
The Golden Knights will still play No. 8/11 Michigan later in the season when the Wolverines visit Orlando for a doubleheader on March 2nd.
Pool play for the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic is scheduled to resume Saturday at normal times pending the weather. UCF will match-up with No. 11/8 Washington at 2:15p.m along with Portland State at 6p.m.
