Women's Golf Hosts UCF Invitational Monday

ORLANDO - UCF and Stoneybrook Golf Course are set to host the seventh annual UCF Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Orlando. The 36-hole event will begin Monday at 8 a.m. with the first round of play. The final 18 holes begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. from Stoneybrook in East Orlando.

The event, which the Golden Knights have won three times, is an invitational that hosts some of the finest programs in the South.Twelve teams will be competing in the event including eight from the Sunshine State including Daytona Beach CC, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida Southern, Florida International, Rollins, Stetson and UCF. Augusta State, Georgia State, Troy and Winthrop round out the field at this year's event.

Defending champion Georgia State returns from last season to lead the field in 2005. The Panthers carded a team score of 607 to win the 2004 UCF Invitational by three strokes over Jacksonville. The Dolphins were second with a team score of 610, followed by Florida Southern (619), Augusta State (621), Rollins (624), Florida Atlantic (629), Florida Gulf Coast (637), Daytona Beach CC (638), UCF and Troy (649), Stetson (679) and Winthrop (682).

Individually, Pamela Feggans of Florida Southern returns to defend her championship after carding the best score in tournament history to win the event a year ago. Feggans fired a one-under par 143 to win the championship, one shot ahead of Augusta State's Lauren Smith.
