Jan. 6, 2005

ORLANDO, Fla. - UCF women's soccer head coach Amanda Cromwell was named the Southeast Region Coach of the Year by soccerbuzz.com. Cromwell led the Golden Knights to a 17-4-2 overall mark and an 8-2-0 record in the Atlantic Sun, while earning an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Cromwell led the Black and Gold to victories over No.12 Florida State and No.10 University of Florida in Round One of the NCAA Tournament. She was a perfect 9-0 against teams from the state of Florida.

Joining Cromwell on the list of the Southeast Region honorees were junior Courtney Baines (Indialantic, Fla./Satellite HS), senior Allison Blagriff (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie HS) and freshmen Kendra Flock (Calgary, Alberta/Western Canada HS) and Jessica Hallgren (Pinellas Park, Fla./Clearwater Central Catholic HS). Flock and Baines were named to the All Southeast Second Team with Blagriff on the Third Team. Flock and Hallgren rounded out the list on the All-Freshman Team.

In earlier post-season honors, Blagriff was also recognized by being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCA)/adidas South Region Scholar Athlete All-America First Team, A-Sun All-Conference First Team, NSCA Southeast Region Third Team and the national All-American adidas Academic Team.

Baines was also named to the NSCA/adidas South Region Scholar Athlete All-America First Team, A-Sun All-Conference First Team and A-Sun Defensive Player of the Year after the 2004 season.

Flock, meanwhile, earned spots on the A-Sun All-Conference First Team, A-Sun All-Freshman Team and NSCA Southeast Region Second Team.

Hallgren was also named to the A-Sun All-Freshman Team.

Cromwell and the Golden Knights will return in the fall of 2005 as a member of Conference USA. UCF will face fellow NCAA Tournament participants Rice, SMU and UAB in the upcoming season.
