Baines Named CoSIDA Second Team All-America

ORLANDO, Fla. - Courtney Baines was named to the 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Soccer Second Team selected by CoSIDA. Baines, an education major, helped lead the UCF women's soccer team a 17-4-2 finish as well as the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

For the season, Baines was tied for second on the team in points with 20 including five goals and 10 assists. She also had one game-winning goal against conference rival Mercer. Baines led the Golden Knights in penalty kicks hitting 4-for-4.

For her hard work on the soccer field, Baines was named to the soccerbuzz.com Southeast Region Second Team, Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team, A-Sun Defensive Player of the Year and soccerFla.com All-Florida Team.

Not only has Baines excelled on the soccer field, but she has also excelled in the classroom. She has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas South Region Scholar Athlete All-America First Team, student-athlete honor roll, Dean's list, Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team, Athletic Director's Court of Honor, President's Honor Roll, Golden Knight Roundtable for Scholarship, National Collegiate Scholars and CoSIDA District III All-America Academic Team.

Baines and the rest of the women's soccer team will return to action in the fall of 2005 as a member of Conference USA.
