UCF Ranked Fourth in A-Sun Academic Race

MACON, Ga - The UCF athletics program ranked fourth in the Atlantic Sun's race for the All-Academic Trophy as 59.4% of its student-athletes earned all-academic honors in the fall, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Sixty of the 101 Golden Knights who participated in Atlantic Sun-sponsored sports posted a grade point average of 3.0 or better, the largest number of any A-Sun school. Three-time defending champion Belmont was first with 53 of 80 student-athletes (66.3%), while Troy was second with 66% (33 of 50). Lipscomb ranked third at 61.7% (50 of 81) and Gardner-Webb rounded out the top five at 58.3% (42 of 72).

Women's volleyball was the most successful of the Knights' programs with 11 of the 13 women (84.6%) achieving the 3.0 or higher.

Overall, 56.4% of the conference's 855 student-athletes were named to the all-academic teams.

The All-Academic Trophy is given to the conference school boasting the highest percentage of student-athletes who receive a 3.0 or better.
