Women's Tennis Defeats Flagler in Exhibition Match

ORLANDO - The UCF women's tennis team shutout Flagler College, 7-0, in a preseason exhibition match on Saturday at the UCF Tennis Complex.

The Golden Knights started off the day by earning all three wins in doubles play with the tandem of Megan Rosario-Hunter and Jennifer Carati taking an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 position. The duo of sophomore transfer Becky Gordon and senior Ola Luczak remained undefeated at 4-0 on the year with an 8-2 win at No. 2.

At No. 1 singles, senior Kristina Lohmos defeated Charlotte Sikora, 6-3, 6-2, in the closest match of the day. From position No. 3 to No. 6, the Golden Knights only lost three games as Gordon and Hunter went 6-0, 6-0 at the bottom of the lineup. Freshman Anna Yakimchenkova also won the extra match, 6-0, 6-0.

"It was great to get the win," said sixth-year head coach Patricia Allison. "We gained the confidence we need heading into our season debut against Florida."

UCF opens the regular season on Thursday at No. 2 ranked Florida.
