ORLANDO - The Golden Knights return to the road when they travel to Nashville, Tenn., to face the Belmont Bruins on Sunday afternoon. UCF is coming off of a 73-61 loss to Florida Atlantic on Thursday night. The Knights are currently 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the A-Sun.
UCF and Belmont will be meeting for the seventh time. The Knights currently hold a 4-2 lead in the series. UCF won a pair of games last season against the Bruins including a thrilling 64-62 win in the A-Sun semifinals.
The Bruins currently stand 5-10 overall and 4-3 in the A-Sun. Belmont faces arch rival Lipscomb on Friday before hosting UCF. Brian Collins, a preseason all-conference selection, leads the team in rebounds and assists while ranking second in scoring. Belmont is one of the top three-point shooting teams in the country, drilling 9.7 trifectas per game, fourth nationally. Jese Snyder leads the squad in scoring at 11.3 points per game. Snyder, and backcourt mate Nick Otis are each ranked among the NCAA leaders in 3PT field goal percentage.
Anthony Williams is coming off his second straight double-double and third straight game with at least 10 rebounds. Williams, a 6-8 junior from Omaha, Neb., leads the team in rebounding at 5.4 per game and has risen to 15th in the A-Sun. In addition, Williams is 7.7 boards over the last six games. Williams is also ranked among the league leaders in scoring, field goal percentage and blocked shots.
The game can be heard tape delayed following AFC Championship game on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., as Marc Daniels will call the action, which can be heard on UCF ISP Sports Network and its flagship station 740-THE TEAM (AM).
