ORLANDO - The UCF men's basketball team will host Florida Atlantic on Thursday night in the second game of a double-header. The Golden Knights are looking to extend a season-best four-game winning streak.
This is the second meeting in a week between the Knights (12-4, 5-3 A-Sun) and Owls (3-11, 3-5 A-Sun) and also marks the final time the two will square off as A-Sun rivals during the regular season. UCF leads the all-time series 20-5 and has won six straight meetings.
The Owls have dropped three straight, including last Thursday's 73-70 loss to UCF. However, the three losses have come by a combined total of 10 points. Mike Bell, the preseason A-Sun player of the year, is averaging a team-high 18.5 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game. Quinton Young is averaging 11.7 points per game while Kahleaf Watson has dished out 72 assists while recording 36 steals for the Owls.
Kingsley Edwards is coming off of a pair of impressive games, scoring a career-high 20 points at Florida Atlantic and adding a triple double vs. Troy. Against the Owls, Edwards went 4-7 from the floor including a pair of threes. He also hit 10-of-12 free-throws to help the Knights hold off FAU. He added six boards and three assists in the game. He followed that up with a triple-double that saw the 6-0 point guard set career-highs in rebounds (10) and assists (14) while recording 4 steals.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., as Marc Daniels will call the action, which can be heard live on UCF ISP Sports Network and its flagship station 740-THE TEAM (AM). Tickets are still available. Adults are $6. Youth age 17 and under and seniors age 55 and older are $4. Children under five and UCF students with a valid UCF student I.D. are admitted free. Tickets for all Golden Knights men's basketball games are available at the door and by calling (407) UCF-GOLD.
