ORLANDO, Fla. - Allison Blagriff was named by National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and adidas to the 2004 NSCAA/adidas Women's College Scholar All-America Team. Blagriff is only the third Golden Knight to earn this award. Jackie VanLooven earned All-America status in 2002 while Karen Richter received the honor in 1989.
Blagriff has also been named to National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas South Region Scholar Athlete All-America First Team, Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team, All-American adidas Academic Team and soccerFla.com All-Florida Team.
"Throughout school, I would always push myself to do well," said Blagriff. "Winning this award shows that all of the hard work has really paid off."
Blagriff has played a key role in the success of the women's soccer program at UCF. She has played in 66 games in her career at UCF, starting in 59. Blagriff has taken 155 shots with 25 goals and 16 assists for a total of 66 points while also scoring eight game-winning goals throughout her four years.
"I have had a great team to back me up for these last four years," said Blagriff. "Without the support of the team, I do not think that I would have received these awards."
"Allie has meant a lot throughout the years to the program," said head coach Amanda Cromwell. "She came in as a player that we knew would have an impact in the midfield, we just did not know how much of an impact she would have. She got her chance as a freshman and never looked back as far as starting and being a playmaker. Allie was a workhorse who led by example. Everything we achieved, Allie played a big part in. She did things from organize summer training to her own `Allie Camp.' She invested her whole heart into this program"
Blagriff will graduate in the spring of 2005 with a degree in business administration.
