Cheerleading Getting Ready For National Competition

ORLANDO, Fla. - UCF's varsity cheerleading squad will try to recapture the Universal Cheerleading Association College Cheerleading National Championship this weekend at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

UCF has finished in the top 10 in the nation in 10 of the last 11 seasons, including four consecutive years in the top three. The squad finished third last season after capturing the school's lone national championship in 2003.

UCF will take the mats fifth in the rotation at 9:16 p.m. on Saturday night after Colorado State University and before the University of Cincinnati for the semifinal routine.

UCF's dance team will look to improve on consecutive fifth place finishes. KnightMoves performs in the semifinals at 11:36 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The finals are set for Sunday afternoon. The dance team finals begin at 5pm with the cheer team finals to follow at 6:30pm. After both competitions are complete the award show is soon to follow.

Also competing this weekend in the mascot finals is "Knightro". The UCF mascot is coming off back-to-back tenth place finishes, and will take the floor at 5:17pm.
