ORLANDO, Fla. - Kendra Flock was named Freshman of the Year by SoccerFLA.com along with being named to the All-Florida Women's Team with teammates Courtney Baines and Allison Blagriff for the 2004 season.
Flock led the Black and Gold in shots (67), shots on goal (31) and points with 29 after scoring 13 goals and assisting on three others. She had four game-winning goals against Minnesota, Lipscomb, No. 12 Florida State and No. 10 Florida. Flock also led the team in shots (67) and shots on goal (31). For her performance against Florida State, she was named Player of the Week by soccerFla.com.
Throughout the post season, Flock has been named to the A-Sun All-Conference First Team, A-Sun All-Freshman Team, National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Southeast Region Second Team, soccerbuzz.com Southeast Region Second Team and All-Freshman Team and soccerbuzz.com Freshman All-America Third Team.
Blagriff was second on the team in points with 22 after scoring nine goals and assisting on four others. She had two game-winning goals against Florida Atlantic and Troy.
Blagriff has also been named to the soccerbuzz.com Southeast Region Third Team, NSCAA/adidas South Region Scholar-Athlete All-America First Team, A-Sun All-Conference First Team, NSCAA/adidas Southeast Region Third Team and All-American Academic Team.
Baines was third on the team in points with 20 after scoring five goals and assisting on 10 others. She had one game-winning goal against Mercer.
Baines too was named to the soccerbuzz.com Southeast Region Second Team, NSCAA/adidas South Region Scholar-Athlete All-America First Team, A-Sun All-Conference First Team and A-Sun Defensive Player of the Year.
The team is composed of the top women collegiate soccer players in Florida. The University of Florida had the most women named with four, while UCF and Florida State each had three and Florida Atlantic with one. UCF completed the 2004 season with a 17-4-2 overall record and an 8-2-0 mark in the Atlantic Sun, while receiving an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The Golden Knights will return in the fall of 2005 as a member of Conference USA. UCF will face fellow NCAA Tournament participants and C-USA members Rice, SMU and UAB in the upcoming season.
