ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's basketball team will host Troy on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the UCF Arena. The Golden Knights will enter Saturday's game with a 4-6 overall mark and 2-1 Atlantic Sun mark after defeating UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev., Colgate and conference rivals Belmont and Florida Atlantic. Troy comes in with a 2-8 overall record and 1-2 mark in the A-Sun with wins over Mercer and Brimingham Southern.
The Knights are led by senior Ali Roberts who is averaging 10.3 points per game and 5.5 boards per game. Junior Celeste Hudson is a close second to Roberts with 10.1 points per game. Junior Shelby Weber leads the Black and Gold in rebounds with 7.3 per game.
Sophomore Lashaunda Slade paces the Knights in assists with 42 while also ranking second among A-Sun players with 4.2 per game.
As a team, UCF is currently ranked first among A-Sun teams in scoring defense (59.0 per game) and blocked shots (5.7 per game), second in scoring margin (-1.4) and rebounding margin (+3.7) and third in defensive rebounds (27.5 per game).
Last time out, the Knights defeated FAU 49-41 with Roberts leading the way. She recorded her first double-double of the season and fifth of her career with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Trojans are lead by Amy Lewis who is averaging 13.6 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game. Alecia Jones leads Troy with 6.8 rebounds per game.
In their last outing, Troy was defeated by Florida Atlantic 72-67. Jones scored 20 points with seven rebounds to lead the Lady Trojans. Audrey Muse recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds.
This will be the 11th time that UCF and Troy have met on the basketball court with the series tied at five games apeice. The last time that the Knights and the Lady Trojans met was on February 14, 2004 with UCF defeating Troy 70-66.
Tickets are still available for the game. Adults are $5. Youth age 17 and under and seniors age 55 and older pay $3.
