Three Women Soccer Players Named to NSCAA Southeast Region Teams

Dec. 7, 2004

ORLANDO, Fla. - JoAnna Black and Kendra Flock were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Southeast Region 2nd Team while teammate Allison Blagriff was named to the 3rd Team. The Golden Knights finished the season 17-4-2 and 8-2-0 in the Atlantic Sun making it to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Black played and started in all 23 games for the Knights during the 2004 season. She took six shots on the season with two shots on goal while defending the UCF net to keep opponents from scoring.

"JoAnna very much deserved this her senior season," said head coach Amanda Cromwell. "She was a very aggressive player and led the defense all season long."

Flock and Blagriff both started all 23 games in 2004 for the Golden Knights. Flock had 13 goals with three assists for a total of 29 points with four game-winning goals and Blagriff had nine goals and four assists for a total of 22 points with two game-winning goals.

"Kendra and Ali led the team with goals this season with Kendra scoring four game-winning goals and Ali two," said Cromwell. "Both girls are a major threat to any defense."

"JoAnna, Kendra and Ali all played a key role in the big wins over Florida State and Florida," said Cromwell. "JoAnna helped to shut down Florida State in the second half not allowing them the chance to score. Kendra scored the game-winning goal in both games for us. Ali scored the tying goal in the Florida State game to give us to opportunity to win."

UCF will enter Conference USA in the fall of 2005 where they will face fellow NCAA Tournament participants Rice, SMU and UAB. UCF tied UAB, who also advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament, 1-1 in double overtime this past fall.
