ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Jason Forte scored eight of his 15 points in overtime, including the winning free throws with 4.5 seconds remaining, as Brown rallied to defeat UCF, 83-82, in a first-round game of the UCF Holiday Invitational late Tuesday.
The Bears (5-5) face Charleston Southern (2-6), a 50-49 first-round winner over Fordham, in the Wednesday championship. UCF (7-2) faces Fordham (4-5) in the consolation.
Gary Johnson's three-pointer with 38 seconds left in overtime regained the lead for the Knights at 82-81, but Forte put Brown back on top with his freebies.
Brown erased a 13-point second-half deficit and took the lead for the first time on two free throws by Mark McAndrew with 1:41 remaining in regulation. Marcus Avant tied the game for UCF on a rebound basket with 1:27 to go.
Luke Ruscoe led Brown with 21 points.
Josh Peppers led five UCF players in double figures with 20 points.
