UCF Tops Missouri-Kansas City At The Buzzer, 57-56

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Gary Johnson's follow shot at the buzzer lifted UCF to a 57-56 win over Missouri-Kansas City Saturday night.

The Golden Knights (7-1) got possession after William Bakanowsky rebounded a shot from the wing by Mike English with 30 seconds left.

Joshua Peppers missed a shot from the top of the key with six seconds left, rebounded his shot, but missed again with two seconds left. Johnson got the offensive rebound and scored at the buzzer.

UCF trailed only twice in the game. English, who had a season-high 21 points, hit two free throws with 2:18 left to give Missouri-Kansas City (0-5) a 54-53 lead.

After UCF went ahead on a tip-in by Anthony Willams at the 1:23 mark, Quinton Day hit a runner in the lane to put the Kangaroos up 56-55 1:07 left.

Johnson finished with 11 points while Peppers came off the bench to lead UCF with 18 points and Williams had 10.

Day added 16 points for the Kangaroos and English had a game-high eight rebounds.

UCF also beat the Kangaroos 62-56 at home on Dec. 4.
