ORLANDO - Defender Tim Sobczak was selected to the all-south region second team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), the organization announced recently.
A senior tri-captain, Sobczak was instrumental in the team success since transferring from Florida Atlantic in the summer of 2002. He started 58 matches - including 53 consecutively before missing two this season due to injury. He recorded his first collegiate point against IPFW in mid-September and earned a spot on the Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year.
During his career, the Golden Knights posted a 1.24 goals-against-average and posted a total of 18 shutouts. The team won three consecutive A-Sun Tournament titles and made three NCAA appearances.
This season, UCF advanced to the second round for the first time since moving to Division I in 1984. The Knights finished with an 11-7-2 mark.
