BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Kendra Flock scored twice to lead the University of Central Florida to a 3-0 victory over Jacksonville Friday evening in the semifinal round of the Atlantic Sun Conference women's soccer championship at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
The second-seeded Golden Knights (16-3-1) will meet either top-seeded Campbell or fourth-seeded Gardner-Webb in Saturday's 6:00 p.m. final.
UCF took less than three minutes to score the only goal it would need to advance to the conference tournament final for the 10th time in 11 seasons. Jacksonville failed to clear a UCF corner kick, and Shannon Wing volleyed home a 15-yard attempt after only 2:59 for her fourth goal of the season.
The three-time defending A-Sun tourney champion out shot sixth-seeded Jacksonville (5-9-5) by an 18-2 margin, including a 9-0 gap in the second half. Jacksonville, which upset third-seeded Florida Atlantic 3-2 Thursday evening, had only one shot on target.
UCF keeper Julie Snaman (Burke, Va./Robinson Secondary) handled Courtney Eppleman's effort from outside the box in the 23rd minute, and went on to record her eighth shutout of the year.
Flock, a freshman from Calgary, Alberta and member of the A-Sun first-team all-conference and all-freshman teams, scored her 11th and 12th goals of the season.
In the 17th minute, Allison Blagriff (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie HS) fed Becca Eshelman (Akron, Pa./Ephrata HS), who slipped a pass behind the JU back line to Flock, who beat keeper Michelle Kmiotek to the left corner.
Blagriff again set up Flock in the 57th minute for UCF's final score, a nearly identical sequence at the other end of the field.
UCF saw three more chances slip by when Jessalyn Withers (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie HS) hit the cross bar in the 61st minute. In the 77th minute, Courtney Baines' (Indialantic, Fla./Satellite HS) header clanged off the bar, then Jacksonville's Amber Otto cleared her line on Lauren McDevitt's (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) rebound attempt.
UCF extended its win streak to six matches since an Oct. 10 loss at Georgia State. Included in that span was a 2-0 blanking of JU on Oct. 17 in Orlando.
