DURHAM, N.C. - Former UCF pitcher Matt Fox added another award to his resume Friday as Baseball America named him a first team All-American. Fox was named an All-American by every collegiate baseball media outlet following his 14-2 season in 2004. The Coral Springs native recorded 125 strikeouts in 112 innings in leading the Golden Knights to 47 wins in 2004, the fourth highest total in UCF single-season history.
Fox has signed a professional contract with the Minnesota Twins. The Twins selected Fox with the 35th overall pick in the supplemental first round. Baseball America has reported that Foxâ?TMs signing bonus was $950,000.
In addition, Clay Timpner and Jaime Douglas have also signed professional contracts with the San Francisco Giants and Anaheim Angels, respectively. Timpner was a fourth round pick and Baseball America reported his signing bonus was $235,000 with the Giants.
