Fireall Leads UCF to Victory over Troy, 5-0

ORLANDO, Fla. - Three very special young ladies were honored at the start of the final home match for the Golden Knights. Seniors Allison Blagriff, Becca Eshelman and JoAnna Black all had letters written by their parents read aloud while being escorted to midfield. The afternoon was capped off when the UCF Knights (14-3-1, 8-2-0 Atlantic Sun) defeated the Troy Trojans (5-10-3, 3-5-2 A-Sun) 5-0.

Once play started, the Knights came out ready to strike. Blagriff scored the first goal of the game and her eighth of the season just 12:36 into the game. She took a pass from Courtney Baines on the right side and kicked it past Troy's goalkeeper Laura Longard to the left side of the net.

Eleven minutes later, Kristin Bilby took a pass from Baines on a corner kick and headed the ball past Longard for the second goal of the day for the Knights and Bilby's first goal of the season.

By halftime, the Golden Knights were up 2-0 had out-shot the Trojans 16-1 and had taken six corner kicks compared to zero for Troy.

At the beginning of the second half, UCF scored two more goals within the first five minutes of play. Monique Fireall netted her first goal of the day and third goal of the season at the 46:59 mark. Kendra Flock and Becky Brandt both received assists on the goal.

Two minutes later, Fireall was at it again scoring her second goal of the afternoon and fourth goal of the season. Arielle Orr picked up the assist on the goal.

Baines earned one more assist on the afternoon for a total of three assists after passing the ball to Flock who kicked the ball into the upper part of the goal to score the fifth and final goal of the day and her ninth goal of the season.

By the end of the afternoon, UCF out-shot the Trojans 28-3 and had taken nine corner kicks to Troy's zero.

The Knights are back in action Thursday night when they take on the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee, Fla. at 7 pm. The game will be televised on the Sunshine Network.
