ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's basketball will travel to Gainesville, Fla. where they will take on the University of Florida Tuesday, November 30 at 5 p.m.. The Golden Knights and Lady Gators both enter the match 1-2 on the season. UCF defeated UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev. to open the season before falling to Northern Arizona and Southern Miss. Florida had losses to Florida State and Iowa before defeating Akron.
Senior Takira Allen and junior Celeste Hudson lead the Knights offensively. Hudson has 33 points on the season followed closely by Allen with 32. Between the two, Hudson and Allen have combined for 24 rebounds in the first three games.
Senior Ali Roberts leads the Black and Gold in rebounds with 15 for a 5.0 rebounds per game average. Junior Shelby Weber is second on the team in rebounds with 14.
In the Atlantic Sun, UCF is first in scoring defense with 169 points for an average of 56.3 per game and blocked shots with 12. The Golden Knights are second in scoring margin behind Belmont with a -3.0 margin, in field goal percentages with 40.9% and rebounding defense with 105 for an average of 35.0 per game.
Individually, Hudson is ranked 18th for scoring averaging 11 points per game while Allen is ranked 22nd with 10.7 points per game. Roberts is ranked 14th in field goal percentage with 45.5%. Lashaunda Slade ranks second in the conference for assists with 13 for an average of 4.33 per game. Hudson is also ranked 13th for assists with seven for an average of 2.33 per game. Hudson comes in 15th in the steals category with five for a 1.67 average per game. In the three-point field goal category, Hudson is currently ranked 12th making six of 18 for .333 shooting percentage. Roberts is also ranked second in the blocked shots department with eight for a 2.67 blocked shots per game average.
Florida is led by Danielle Santos who has 47 points in three games for an average of 15.7 points per game. Bernie Mosby is second on the team in points with 41 but leads the Gators in rebounds with 26. Dalila Esbe is second on the Florida team in rebounds with 17 of her own.
This will mark the 24th time that UCF and Florida have met on the hardwood. The Lady Gators lead the all-time series 23-0. In the last meeting between these two, Florida defeated UCF 72-48.
The Golden Knights will return home to play Belmont in the Atlantic Sun Conference opener on Thursday, December 2 at 5 p.m. Following the women's game on Thursday, the men will take on Gardner-Webb in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available for both games.
