UCF Women's Basketball Defeats Team Reebok 45-39

ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior Takira Allen led the Golden Knights in points with 13 while senior Ali Roberts led UCF in rebounds with 10 when the Knights defeated Team Reebok Saturday afternoon 45-39. This was the second exhibition win for the UCF of the 2004-05 season.

During the first half, Allen scored nine of her 13 points and had grabbed seven rebounds while Roberts grabbed five of her rebounds.

The starting five, seniors Allen and Roberts, juniors Shayla Smith and Shelby Weber and sophomore Lashaunda Slade, accounted for 28 of the 45 points, 35 of the 56 rebounds, five of the eight assists, all four blocks and six of the nine steals.

The teams went into halftime with UCF up 29-10. Team Reebok was four of 31 on field goals and zero of 12 on three-point field goals with 17 rebounds, no assists or blocks and two steals. UCF was 11 of 33 on field goals and one of 10 on three-point field goals with 34 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and six steals.

In the second half, Team Reebok came out ready to play. They scored 29 of their 39 points while grabbing 21 boards. Jessica Kern turned her game around for the second half. After going one of 12 on field goals and zero for seven on three-point field goals, Kern scored a total of 13 points on five field goals and two three-point field goals.

The second half effort was not enough for Team Reebok to overcome the lead that the Golden Knights had built during the first half.

UCF ended the game making 18 of 62 field goals, two of 14 three-point field goals and seven on 10 free throws for a total of 45 points while Team Reebok was 15 of 62 on field goals, six of 27 on three-point field goals and three of five from the charity line for a total of 39 points.

UCF returns to action on Friday, November 19 when they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to take on the UNLV Rebels at 10 p.m. eastern time.
