Men's Golf Finishes Third in Memphis

Cordova, Tenn. - UCF shot a 20-over-par 308 Tuesday and wound up third at the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club. The Golden Knights entered the final round with a four stroke advantage over the host University of Memphis Tigers, but were unable to hold the lead. Memphis took home top honors by shooting a 2-over-par 290 Tuesday to finish the tournament at 9-over-par, seven shots ahead of runner-up Xavier and 14 shots ahead of UCF.

Senior Andreas Hoegberg shot a final round 3-over-par 75 and finished in a tie for seventh. It was his third consecutive top 10 finish of the season. He entered the final round in second place, two shots out of the lead along with teammate Stefan Wistorf, a junior, who shot 78 Tuesday to drop to 14th.

Allan Thomas of Memphis shot the low round of the day with a 5-under-par 67 Tuesday to take home medalist honors at 2-under-par 214. He finished two shots ahead of the 36-hole leader Neal Grusczynski from Xavier and Mississippi's Jordan Dempsey.

UCF sophomore Steven Bain, also shot 78 Tuesday and tied for 16th in his first tournament of the fall.

UCF returns to action in a week when it travels to Tampa for the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Invitational at Old Memorial Golf Course.
