HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -Marshall held UCF to 104 yards of total offense in a 20-3 victory over UCF Saturday afternoon at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, W.Va. With the loss, UCF dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the MAC while Marshall improved to 5-3 and 5-0 in the MAC.
Both teams were held scoreless after 15 minutes of play. The UCF defense shutout its opponent for the second straight week in the first quarter, limiting Marshall to only one first down and 14 yards of total offense in the first quarter.
Marshall scored first thanks to its defense when Chris Royal intercepted a Steven Moffett pass and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown. The score came at the 8:32 mark in the second quarter to give Marshall a 7-0 lead.
The Thundering Herd converted on fourth down and two at the UCF five-yard line to score their second touchdown of the game. Stan Hill hit Brad Bates on the five-yard touchdown pass with 1:58 remaining in the second quarter to give Marshall a 14-0 advantage.
Ian O'Connor booted a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter to extend the Marshall lead to 17-0.

O'Connor started the fourth quarter with his second field goal of the day from 49 yards out to give Marshall a 20-0 lead.
Atari Bigby's third career interception in the fourth quarter set up UCF's first points of the afternoon as Matt Prater converted on a 45-yard field goal to close the gap to 20-3.
