Volleyball Looks to Clinch Spot in A-Sun Tournament

ORLANDO - UCF volleyball looks to clinch a spot in the Atlantic Sun tournament for the 13th time in as many years in their final A-Sun conference match. The Golden Knights host Jacksonville (10-11, 6-2) at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, after stepping out of conference to host #24 Florida A&M, 20-2, on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

The Golden Knights are on the verge of clinching a spot in the A-Sun tournament 13th time in as many attempts. UCF needs one win to clinch one of the final two spots in the A-Sun championship. The Knights are currently one game ahead of Mercer and Stetson who each have an A-Sun mark of 4-5. A loss by either in their final conference match will also secure a spot in the postseason for the Knights. Florida Atlantic has clinched the top spot. Belmont has locked up the second spot with an 8-2 mark while Jacksonville and Georgia State have also clinched spots in the tournament hosted by UCF November 19 and 20.

The Rattlers come into the match on a 19-match winning streak and 20-2 mark overall. FAMU is currently ranked 24th in the AVCA Top 25 and have earned the top seed in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament for the sixth straight year. Adriana Kostadinova leads the team in kills, averaging 4.74 per game while hitting .359. Maria Andonova, the sister of Florida Atlantic's Iana Andonova, is hitting .509 while averaging 3.59 kills per game. Setter Mariela Portocarrero is averaging 13.09 assists per game.

Jacksonville has already clinched a spot in the A-Sun tournament with a 6-2 league mark. The Dolphins have a match with Florida Atlantic before facing UCF. Eva Stolova leads JU averaging 3.13 kills per game while Danielle Neville leads the A-Sun in blocks per game at 1.11.
