ORLANDO - Celeste Hudson had a double-double with 11 rebounds and 17 points to lead the Golden Knights to a 70-47 victory over the Miami Suns in the first exhibition game of the 2004-05 season. UCF had a strong showing from it's starters scoring 45 of the 70 points and grabbing 30 of the 53 rebounds.
Hudson (Altamonte Springs, Fla./Lyman HS) led UCF with 17 total points after going seven of 14 on field goals and three of eight on three-point field goals while grabbing two offensive rebounds and nine defensive rebounds for a total of 11. She also had four assists, one block and three steals.
Senior Ali Roberts (Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic HS) led the Golden Knights in assists with five for the night. Roberts was also in double digits in points scoring 10 while grabbing seven rebounds of her own.
Coming off her redshirt season, sophomore Francine Houston (Bradenton, Fla./Southeast HS) came off the bench ready to play. Houston played in 21 minutes scoring 10 points on four field goals, one three-point shot and one free throw. She also managed to snag six rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Sophomore Jeralynn Campbell (Thontassassa, Fla./Armwood HS) was able to play in 17 minutes in this season's first exhibition game after being injured within the first minute of being put in last year. Campbell scored five points while grabbing six rebounds.
As a team, UCF was 28 of 64 on field goals, six of 14 on three-point field goals and eight of 21 on free throws.
The Golden Knights return to action on Saturday, November 13 when they take on Team Reebok at the UCF Arena at 2:00 pm. The first regular season home game is Friday, November 26 when they take on Southern Mississippi with tip-off being at noon.
