Best Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region

STARKSVILLE, Miss. - Junior shortstop Stephanie Best of the UCF softball team was recently voted to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Southeast Region Second Team by the NFCA coaches.

The two-time Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, Best was among the country's top offensive players as she was ranked among the top five nationally in both batting average and slugging percentage. She finished the season hitting .442 with a .840 slugging percentage and a .562 on base percentage.

Best led the A-Sun in several offensive categories, including runs scored (55), home runs (16), total bases (137) and walks (42). She was named conference player of the week on three occasions and was named to the CoSIDA All-Academic District III First Team for the second consecutive year.

It was the second time Best earned all-region status. Last season, she was named to the All-Southeast Region First Team.

The Golden Knights compiled a 42-21 overall mark and a 16-4 record in conference play. They advanced to the Atlantic Sun Championship game for the second year in a row and finished as the regular season and tournament runner-up.
