A recent addition to the community service repertoire, special spectators involves UCF's connection with the Florida Children's Hospital and the Nemour's Clinic. Patients are given the opportunity to attend a Golden Knights' home sporting event complete with pre-game party, visits from UCF's mascot Knightro and student-athletes and a bag of souvenirs. Tickets to the games are usually delivered by the student-athletes themselves on one of their weekly trips to the hospitals.
The program was initiated during the fall of 2002 with football games against Ohio and Syracuse and was extended to basketball and baseball.
