BOSTON, Mass. - The UCF Varsity 8+ rowers finished 27th of 42 crews against tough national competition in the Championship 8 event at the 40th Annual Head of Charles regatta on Sunday afternoon.
The Knights' boat, which featured coxswain Lisa Beltran, stroke Caitlin Pauls, Kyla Smith,Tanya Kleisler, Kristin Roach, Amy Price, Krystina Sarff, Kate Motes and bow Mary Rosser, started last in the race and pulled ahead of 15 squads before reaching the finish line in 13:11.07.
ASR Nereus took first in the event with a time of 12:06.66, while the top collegiate team - Princeton - was second in 12:08.31.
The Golden Knights will test their strength again when they travel to Gainesville, Ga. on Nov. 6 for the Head of the Chattahoochee.
