TUCSON, Ariz. – UCF junior pitcher Matt Fox and sophomore pitcher Kyle Bono were named to the 2004 Louisville Slugger All-American teams as selected by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Fox was named a first team All-American while Bono garnered third-team honors.
Both players were named to the USA Today/Sports Weekly All-America Second Team last week.
Fox was one of six first team pitchers and led the group with six complete games in 2004. The 2004 A-Sun Pitcher-of-the-Year, Fox is 13-2 with a 1.99 ERA in 16 starts this season. The junior right-hander will start game one of the NCAA Regional for UCF vs. Oklahoma State Friday.
Bono had the second lowest ERA of any starter on all three All-America teams. The Lake Mary native is 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA in 17 appearances this season. In 90.2 innings, Bono has 101 strikeouts and is scheduled to start game two of the NCAA Regional for the Golden Knights. Bono was also named to the Atlantic Sun Conference First Team earlier in the year.
