INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - UCF (44-16) was one of the 64 teams that have been selected for the 58th annual NCAA Division I Baseball Championship that were announced today by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Regionals are scheduled to begin Friday as the third-seeded Golden Knights will battle second-seeded Oklahoma State (37-22) in Tallahassee. No. 1 seed Florida State (42-20) faces No 4 Bethune-Cookman (27-26) in the other game Friday at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee.
UCF will make its ninth appearance all-time in the NCAA Baseball Championship, including its second straight trip to Florida State. The Golden Knights also played at Dick Howser Stadium in 2002 in regional play. In all, UCF has played five other NCAA Regionals in Tallahassee (1993, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2002).
The Golden Knights, ranked 20th nationally by Collegiate Baseball News, face No. 27 Oklahoma State in the opening round of NCAA play. The Cowboys are also ranked No. 24 in the latest Baseball America Top 25 poll after OSU won the Big 12 Conference Tournament. The Cowboys won their first-ever Big 12 Tournament Title in 13 innings with a dramatic 10-9 win over Missouri in 13 innings Sunday.
Game times and ticket information will be released by Florida State University later today.
