MACON, Ga. – UCF sophomore pitcher Kyle Bono was named the Atlantic Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week by the league office on Monday afternoon. For the third straight week and for the fifth time in eight opportunities, UCF landed the A-Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week after Bono continued his outstanding season with his third straight complete game shutout victory in leading UCF to an A-Sun series win over Stetson.
Bono earned his second A-Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week honor of the season after earning his third straight complete game shutout. Bono pitched the final game of the three-game Stetson series and earned the Golden Knight victory by retiring 15 of the first 17 batters en route to the 5-0 win. Bono allowed four hits while striking out seven batters, not allowing the potent Stetson offense to get on track. Bono has not allowed an earned run in his last 33.1 innings pitched and lengthened his scoreless innings streak to 21. Bono’s ERA now stands at 0.94 on the season, holding batters to just .155 against the right-hander.
No. 23 UCF (23-5, 10-2 A-Sun) returns to the diamond on Tuesday when the Golden Knights host Bethune-Cookman.
