Fox Named A-Sun Pitcher-Of-The-Week

MACON, Ga. – UCF junior pitcher Matt Fox was named the Atlantic Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week by the league office on Monday afternoon. Fox continued to dominate batters, tossing a complete game shutout win over Campbell as a Golden Knight has been named the A-Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week four times already in 2004.

Fox, Coral Springs, Fla., earned his second A-Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week honor of the season after completing the most dominating start of his career. Fox threw the first complete game shutout of his career in a 2-0 victory over Campbell. Fox (6-0) also set a new career-high with 15 strikeouts and yielded just four base hits. He struck out the side in the second, third, fifth and ninth innings. Fox has not allowed an earned run in his last 33.2 innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 0.62 on the season. In 43.1 innings, Fox has allowed just 20 hits while striking out 63 batters.

Fox and the No. 23 ranked Golden Knights (20-4, 8-1) return to play Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. on the road at Bethune-Cookman.
