BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UCF baseball team rallied from a 7-1 deficit to defeat Samford (5-18, 2-9 A-Sun) 11-10 in eight innings Saturday at Joe Lee Griffin Field in Birmingham, Ala. The Golden Knights (18-8, 3-2 A-Sun) won the extra-inning game in dramatic fashion to earn the series win. UCF will go for the series sweep over the Bulldogs Saturday at 5:30 p.m. EST.
In the opener, Ryan Bear extended his hitting streak to 16 games by going 2-for-5 with five RBI. Bear launched a three-run home run while also tying a career-best with the five runs driven in.
Kyle Bono (3-1) got the win in relief for UCF after tossing 3.0 shutout innings. Bono allowed no runs on two hits with three strikeouts.
