ORLANDO – Three UCF pitchers combined to hold Pace to no runs on two hits with 13 strikeouts as the Golden Knights shutout the Setters 3-0 Sunday night at a foggy Jay Bergman Field. Mark Michael improved to 3-0 with the win as he tossed 3.0 innings with four strikeouts while Taylor Cobb nailed down his first collegiate save for the victors. Cobb fanned three and did not allow a hit in 3.0 innings of work.
The UCF offense totaled just four hits, but the Golden Knights scored two runs in the first and one in the fifth to secure the 3-0 win.
Clay Timpner led the UCF attack by going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases along with a RBI and run scored. Ryan Bear was also 1-for-3 with a RBI and Rich Wallace drove in a run for the victors.
The shutout was the second of the season for UCF. The Golden Knights also stole a season-high five bases on the night.
UCF and Pace return to Jay Bergman Field Monday evening at 6 p.m.
