MACON, Ga. – UCF sophomore Taylor Cobb was named the Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week by the league office Tuesday. Cobb tossed 6.0 innings and struck out a career-best six in UCF’s 7-2 win over East Carolina last Sunday in the deciding game of the series.
Cobb did not allow a run in his six innings of work to earn his first victory of the season. In three appearances in 2003, Cobb is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA. In 14.0 innings pitched, Cobb has racked up 11 strikeouts while opponents are batting just .245 against the Jacksonville native.
In addition last week, Cobb belted his first career home run in UCF’s 10-0 win over Bethune-Cookman last Tuesday in Daytona Beach.
The Golden Knights (5-4) return to the diamond this weekend (Feb. 28-Mar. 2) at home vs. Monmouth. The four-game series begins Friday at 6 p.m.
