ORLANDO -- Clay Timpner was named to the Baseball America's College Midseason Freshman Team on April 11th.
Selection of the teams and awards was conducted by Baseball America Editor Allan Simpson and senior writer John Manuel in discussions with coaches and scouts.
Statistics as of April 7th were used to determine the teams. Timpner was batting .398 with four home runs and 23 RBI's at the time, earning him one of the three outfield spots on the freshman team.
Players were chosen according to their performance as well as talent and potential.
"Coming in we expected Clay to be one of the most exciting players to have worn a UCF uniform, but we were not expecting him to put up the numbers he has as a freshman," said Assistant Head Coach Greg Frady. "Clay has listened to everything we have tried to teach him and learned it, which allows him to make adjustments at the plate when needed. That enabled him to constantly produce for us in the middle of the line-up."
