Men's Tennis Hosts Bedford Cup to Open Fall Campaign

ORLANDO-The Knights are set to start their fall campaign by hosting the Bedford Cup from Friday, Sept. 22 to Sunday, Sept. 24 at the USTA National Tennis Center. This will be the first time the Knights have been named host of this event since the 2018 season. The Bedford Cup brings the top collegiate players from schools across the state of Florida to compete.

Six schools including UCF will be traveling to Lake Nona, Florida, for the match which includes, Florida, UNF, FGCU, FAU and Stetson. Eight of the competitors in the tournament received ITA preseason rankings in either singles, doubles, or as a newcomer. 

Mehdi Benchakroun, Paul Colin, Lleyton Cronje, Luca Hotze, Francisco Llanes, Emilio Sanchez, and for the first time in Black and Gold, Santiago Giamichelle, will all represent the Knights in the Bedford Cup. 

Freshman Yassine Dlimi is heading to Charleston, South Carolina, to compete at his first ATP Challenger Tournament event. 

 

The tournament extends from Tuesday, Sept. 25 to Sunday, Oct. 1. The Charleston ATP Challenger Tournament marks the first of two ATP events that the Knights have the potential to participate in.
