ORLANDO – The (RV) UCF softball team has announced plans for its Autism Awareness Day, scheduled for its April 11 game against the FIU Panthers at the UCF Softball Complex.
The Knights will host UCP schools throughout the afternoon, academies dedicated to providing medical therapy, charter therapy, charter education and support services to children and their families each year.
UCF will also make available many different activities in which those in attendance may partake, including a fan zone located in the grass area near the concessions stand on the first base side and other projects on the concourse.
The fan zone will consist of board games and a drawing station, while attending fans can also visit a handful of stations on the concourse where they may color in puzzle pieces for their representation and trace their hands on a large banner as part of a United in Autism Awareness activity. The program will give away UCF-themed fidget spinners to the first 100 kids 12 years old and under in attendance, as well.
Head coach Cindy Ball-Malone's son, Four, will also be in attendance and will throw the pregame ceremonial first pitch.
On the field, the Knights will don specially-made puzzle piece socks, and both teams will wear an autism awareness patch in honor of the day's theme.
