Women's Tennis Earns Sweep Over Bethune Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The UCF women's tennis team got back in the win column with a strong 4-0 sweep over Bethune Cookman Friday afternoon. The match saw senior Marie Mattel return to the lineup and numerous players playing in the front courts for the first time this season.

With the Wildcats having only four student-athletes available, only four singles matches were played to determine the winner of the match. No. 39 Mattel defeated her opponent on court one easily (6-0, 6-0) to give the Knights the first point of the day.

Sophomore Sophia Biolay started on court two for the second time this season, also taking a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory, putting the Black and Gold one point closer to the match victory.

Nandini Sharma slotted in at singles position three for the first time this season. She strengthened her singles win streak to five matches, winning her court in straight sets as well (6-0, 6-0).

Anique Kattenberg joined in on the sweep action on court four, her highest career court position. The sophomore earned her first ever clinching point in the 6-0, 6-0 decision, securing the match victory for the Knights.
