Knights Announce 2022 Track and Field Slate

ORLANDO – UCF head coach Dana Boone announced the 2022 track and field schedule on Tuesday.
 
The Knights begin the indoor campaign at the Clemson Opener January 14-15 before traveling to Blacksburg, Va., for the Hokie Invitational that starts on Jan. 21.
 
The Black and Gold head to Texas A&M for the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Feb. 4 and return to Clemson for the Tiger Paw Invitational Feb. 11.
 
The 2022 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship returns to the Birmingham Crossplex Feb. 25-26. The conference meet returns to Birmingham after not taking place during the 2021 indoor season. A pair of Knights, Samieryah Bradwell and Latasha Smith, earned all-conference honors as members of the 4x4 relay at the 2020 indoor meet.
 
The NCAA Indoor Championship will also take place in Birmingham beginning March 11.
 
The outdoor season kicks off with back-to-back home meets. The Knights open with the Black and Gold Invitational on March 18, followed by the Knights Invite March 25-26 at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
 
UCF remains in the Sunshine State for the next three weekends, competing in the Florida Relays (April 1-2), Miami Alumni Invite (April 8-9) and the Tom Jones Invitational (April 15-16).

The squad will split, with some Knights traveling to Charlottesville, Va., for the Virginia Challenge April 22-23 while others head to Baton Rouge for the LSU Alumni Gold. The Knights head to Jacksonville for the UNF Invitational on April 30 in the final tune-up before the conference meet.
 
The 2022 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship takes place in Wichita, Kan., May 13-15.
 
The NCAA East Preliminary will be held in Bloomington, Ind., beginning May 26 and the NCAA Outdoor Championship return to Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., beginning June 8.
 
UCF returns experience in every event group, highlighted by outdoor All-Americans Rayniah Jones and Asherah Collins. Jones and Collins both look to defend their AAC outdoor titles in the 100-meter hurdles and triple jump, respectively. Charlotte Crook, Beyonce Defreitas and Ciara Holback join the duo as returning outdoor all-conference performers.
