ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After another overtime victory over an American Athletic Conference opponent, the UCF men's soccer team climbed to No. 8 in the latest release of the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The mark is the highest the Knights have been ranked this season.
The No. 8 ranking comes up just one spot shy of tying UCF's program best of No. 7. The Knights achieved that No. 7 mark on Nov. 6, 2018. UCF has now been ranked for 378 days, cracking into the United Soccer coaches poll last year on Oct. 9.
Despite their highest ranking of the season, the Black and Gold did not receive their highest total of voting points. UCF collected 444 total points this week which is second to their total of 459 they recorded two weeks ago when they were ranked at No. 9.
The Knights jumped three spots in this week's poll, as they sat at No. 11 prior to Tuesday. The Black and Gold leapfrogged Indiana, SMU and Saint Mary's this week on their way to the No. 8 spot.
UCF checks in at No. 5 in this week's edition of the men's soccer RPI. The spot is one lower than last week's ranking, which was the first release of the RPI this season.
TopDrawer Soccer's poll dropped the Knights from No. 3 to No. 6. The Black and Gold had been at No. 3 for two consecutive weeks prior to Monday's release of their rankings.
UP NEXT
The Knights will travel the length of I-4 as they'll visit their long-time rival, the South Florida Bulls, on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. UCF holds a 3-0 lead in the War on I-4 series thanks to volleyball's 3-1 win over the Bulls on Oct. 11. A win for the UCF men's soccer team would earn the Knights six more War on I-4 points and give the Black and Gold an early 9-0 lead.
