ORLANDO – UCF baseball defeated the Miami Hurricanes 14-4 in a Sunshine State showdown on Tuesday night at John Euliano Park to extend its winning streak to seven games, tying the record for the longest streak in the Rich Wallace era.
This win not only extends the Knights (13-3) winning streak, but it continued the team’s pattern of earning wins in dominant fashion. In the last seven games, UCF has outscored its opponents 94-14 and out hit them 107-45. It also marked the sixth time during the win streak that the Black and Gold have scored 12 or more runs.
The Knights would get on the board early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first thanks to an RBI triple from Andrew Williamson and an RBI single from Andrew Sundean. the Hurricanes would take the lead right after, however, scoring three runs in the top of the second. But the Knights would return the favor in the bottom of that frame.
After loading the bases, Williamson opened a four-run frame by drawing a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Sundean would immediately follow by hitting a two-run double, giving UCF the lead back. Braden Calise would add one more run with an RBI single to make it 6-3.
The Knights would continue to score in the following inning with Williamson working another bases-loaded walk and Lex Boedicker driving home a pair with a two-run double. UCF would then score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning with an RBI single from Boedicker and a sacrifice fly hit by Antonio Jimenez.
UCF would score its final runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth, when Boedicker hit a three-run home run, his fifth of the season and fourth three-run shot of the year. This capped off a day that saw Boedicker go 4-for-6 at the plate and record six RBIs, setting a new season high for the Knights. This was the first time a UCF player recorded six RBIs in a single game since Boedicker himself achieved the feat last season against Kansas State on April 5.
Guess we could say 3 is his lucky number…

In total, the Black and Gold recorded 18 hits. Ten batters, including all nine members of the starting lineup, recorded at least one hit and five recorded multiple hits. Following Boedicker’s big night, some other notable offensive performances came from DeAmez Ross who went 3-for-4 at the plate and Sundean and Williamson, who both drove in three runs.
UCF used six pitchers in this game. After starting the game with Grant Seigel on the mound, who pitched for two innings and struck out two batters, Dominic Castellano followed with a pair of scoreless innings. He would earn the win to move to 3-0 on the season, as he gave up only one hit and no runs while striking out three batters.
The other four pitchers on the night for the Black and Gold were Camden Wicker, Russell Sandefer, Isaac Williams and Carter Stanford. The group threw a combined five innings and allowed just three hits, no runs while striking out four batters. Both Sandefer and Stanford didn’t allow a hit.
“Our guys get us back into the dugout at a really quick rate right now, and that helps the offense too.” Wallace said. “I don’t think we lost an inning all night.”
The Knights will return to action starting on Thursday when they travel to Provo, Utah, to take on BYU in the team’s first Big 12 Conference series of the season. The series will run Thursday to Saturday at BYU's Miller Park and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Following the BYU series, the Black and Gold will play a midweek game in DeLand against Stetson next Tuesday before returning to John Euliano Park on Friday, March 21 for a three-game Big 12 series against Houston.
