ORLANDO - The UCF track and field team will close out the outdoor track and field regular season in Jacksonville this weekend as North Florida hosts its annual East Coast Relays. The action spans Friday and Saturday, serving as the Knights’ last outing before they embark on their second-ever Big 12 Outdoor Championship in Lawrence, Kansas, later this month.
Former Knight Asherah Collins represented the Knights well in Jacksonville last year, finding a place on the podium in the triple jump with her third-place mark of 13.00m at the 2024 East Coast Relays. The Black and Gold will hope to replicate performances like these on the weekend to conclude the regular season.
LAST TIME OUT
UCF closed out its last home meet of the season with a handful of impressive feats at the Knights Invite last weekend. Day one saw senior Natalia Madison claim her second event win at home this season, this time landing at the 6.11m mark in the long jump to finish first. Later on, the 1500m event was dominated by the Knights with three top-five finishes. Yvone Sandui led the charge in first while Kendall Hughes and Bailey McLain didn’t finish far behind in second and fifth.
Five seniors were honored on the second day of action of the Knights Invite. Among them was Adaobi Tabugbo, who ran the fastest time of 13.06 in the 100m hurdles to claim another first for the Black and Gold. Janiah Pulliam impressed in the 400m with a new personal best, beating her old time by over a second. Her performance of 53.48 was enough to finish second in the event.
